FROM JANUARY 2019
I AM RETIRING FROM BEING A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR.
It has been great time in my life. I have enjoyed every minute of it. I want to thank Phil Hirst and www.learndrivinguk.co.uk for all their help, but other commitments now have to take priority, I am more than happy to refer anyone to LearnDrivingUK, if you are looking at this page for driving lessons.

If you are looking to train as Driving Instructor, contact me. Especially if you are within the Leeds, Harrogate and surrounding areas of Yorkshire.
This is a traditional self employment, but it can be very rewarding. Not only the income, but the satisfaction you get when your pupil passes the test. You have given them a skill which will last them most of their life.

As part of my service to my driving pupils, I email them tips and advice on all matters relating to driving. It may be driving video clips, changes in the law, advice on driving tests and on theory tests. I will also give out lesson availability, if someone cancels a lesson and you would like to swap or take an extra lesson.
I will also give my recommendations of books, Apps and more.
For those that pass their driving test, I also occasionally take a photo and/or video clip of the successful candidate. These tend to go on the main Learndrivinguk.co.uk website, but I do like to put some on this website.
There is no obligation to be on any website, but why not celebrate your success.
If you do not want emails from me or a photo when you pass, that's okay. The main thing is that you pass.
LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU SOON.

Matthew Parker passed his driving test in Horsforth FIRST TIME. Matthew has been an excellent pupil, he was always polite and punctual. Matthew had a run of bad luck leading up to his test, with his job and injuring his ankle, the stress of being one of the first pupils on the new driving test using the Sat Nav etc, but his luck (and skill) was with him on the day.
I wish him safe and happy driving for the future and look forward to some Motorway lessons soon. Carla Vickers passed her driving test in Horsforth (Leeds) Carla is a Pilates teacher and has had some restrictions on where she can travel to, to expand her business. That is now in the past, as she will be able to drive to a lot more events/sessions. Carla has been an excellent pupil, as she asks questions if she is not sure about a particular task or routine when driving. I wish her well for her business and for many years of safe and happy driving.
Also thanks for the excellent review of my skills. |

Phoebe Addison passed her driving test FIRST TIME in Horsforth (Leeds).
Phoebe originally from Middlesbrough, but now living in Leeds and working at the Leeds University did not know the area that well, but she made good progress in every lesson. Phoebe was a complete beginner. She had the trust in me and the confidence in her own abilities to give every task a go, even if it worried her at times. It give me great pleasure to see another SAFE driver on the road and with a skill that will last a lifetime.
Only 3 driving faults, which is an excellent pass. Even though Phoebe and I knew she was capable of passing with no driving faults. Still, its brilliant news. Well done Phoebe.

Tanja Soulsby passed her test FIRST TIME in Horsforth, She was under pressure to pass, as her twin brother Lars Soulsby passed first time earlier in the year. I would also like to thank Tanja for her lovely gifts. These are always a nice surprise, plus I share them with my wife, as I am hardly at home with so many lessons to fit in. So thank you from both of us. I wish Tanja well for safe and happy driving in the future.

17 year old Lars Soulsby from Horsforth passed his test FIRST TIME and even more impressive, he passed with only ONE MINOR DRIVING FAULT. That is some achievement. Lars has a twin sister who is currently taking lessons, so the pressure is definitely on her to do better, which is a no driving fault test. It can be done. So Congratulations to Lars and I wish him well for safe and happy driving in the future.

Simon Stirling passed his test in Horsforth. Simon is from London, but studying Art at Leeds University. Simon was the first to pass in my new car( still waiting for the signage to go on). Simon has some great ambitions, so I wish him will for his studying at University and his future career.

Changing my car soon, to the new
Peugeot 2008 Allure, 1.6 Blue HDi.
Similar to the this picture.
(2008 is the model not the year it was made)
Looking forward to having that little extra comfort and room. It is still an easy car to drive with a slightly higher driving position, which many, including myself, feel is a safer option.

Allan Walton ( above) from Bramley passed his driving test nearly fifteen years ago, but has never driven a car since. His life and health have changed a lot since then and he decided he wanted to drive again. He expected to take nearly 40 hours of REFRESHER lessons to get him back to standard. We managed to do it in 12 hours and four of those were on motorways which he had never done before.. Quote: "Very enjoyable and pleasant experience. Laid back and patient tuition which was appreciated."
Due the hours and topics covered - Allan has now completed the PASS PLUS course and will have his certificate shortly.
Allan now has his own car and expanding his knowledge of roads every day.

Katy Bavill ( above) from Armley, passed her test in Horsforth.
The note inside her Thank You card says it all.
Katy started her driving lessons, but then became pregnant. She continued for a short while, but then placed her lessons on hold for about four to five months. When she started lessons again, she soon picked up where she left off and gained the extra confidence that she did not have at the start.
I am so pleased for her and her new family as it will
"open up a whole new world of independence "
for her.
Congratulations to you and your new family and many years of SAFE and HAPPY driving.

Michelle Whitaker ( above) from Beeston, had no driving experience at all and was a very nervous driver in the early days.
